Etiquette author and expert and great-great-granddaughter of Emily Post
Anna Post is the great-great-granddaughter of Emily Post and the author of "Emily Post’s Wedding Parties" (Collins, 2007) and "Do I Have To Wear White? Emily Post Answers America's Top Wedding Questions" (Collins, 2009). She is currently working on three upcoming book projects.
As an author in her early 30s, Anna approaches etiquette from a perspective that draws on tradition and history while encouraging readers to realize that etiquette is less about worrying about which fork to use and more about treating people with consideration, honesty, and respect.
Anna speaks at bridal shows and events, providing wedding etiquette advice and tips. She is an etiquette expert for Brides.com and is a columnist for Inside Weddings magazine. She is also a graduate of The Emily Post Institute’s Business Etiquette Train-the-Trainer program and conducts business etiquette seminars across the country, working with clients such as Emerson, Borel Private Bank & Trust Company, MeadWestVaco, The National Institutes of Health, The Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University, and Dartmouth College.
Anna’s popularity with media outlets seeking advice on modern etiquette dilemmas is on the rise. Her interviews include USA Today, The New York Times, the Associated Press, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Boston Globe, Time, O at Home, Modern Bride, Real Simple, and Forbes.com. Anna has also appeared on NPR, The Today Show, and The Early Show.
In addition to being a regular source of etiquette advice in print and on radio and television, Anna guest blogs on the Huffington Post on current topics that relate to etiquette in the 21st century.
Anna previously worked for the Motion Picture Association of America and in the Washington, D.C., office of Senator Patrick Leahy. Raised in Charlotte, Vermont, Anna is a graduate of Phillips Andover Academy and the University of Vermont. She holds a degree in political science and currently lives in Burlington, Vermont, where she works at The Emily Post Institute.
At the office, Anna is passionate about relating etiquette to every day life. She likes answering classic questions about weddings and business etiquette, but lives for questions about what happens when etiquette and technology meet, how etiquette can help bridge cultural differences, and how and when it's okay to break with tradition. Outside of work, Anna cooks up a storm in the kitchen, practices yoga when she remembers, travels to Paris whenever she can, and indulges in movies, art, and books.
